Why is it that some people accomplish so much and still have free time to play and have fun while others are always struggling to get something done…anything done?
I know why, you also know why.
It all happens so innocently.
• You raise your hand to volunteer one more time…even though you know that you are already overcommitted.
• You sit down in front of the television and get sucked into the vortex of mindless viewing.
• You spend hours with needy clients that drain you of your energy.
• Family members call or drop by unannounced because they know you will be there…of course you will be there…you work from home!
• You answer the telephone every time it rings.
• The sound of the e-mails as they arrive in your inbox are like a beacon to come to the party.
• You start to do some research for an upcoming workshop and you get sucked into the web of the internet, realizing 3 hours later that you had not finished the research that you intended to do.
You are a victim of “Time Hijackers”!

people on clock
Volunteering, TV, Needy Clients, Family Members, telephone, e-mails, the internet…..Blah…Blah…Blah….the list is never ending.
When you allow others to manipulate your time you are allowing someone else to determine what is important for YOU!
What will it take for you to put a STOP to the hijacking of your time…your life?
First you need to be aware that you are letting these people and events take your precious time and then you need to be aware of how you want to spend your valuable time.
Think of your time as money and you have a whole $24.00 each day to spend. After you take away the $7 or $8 for much needed sleep…you are left with a precious $16 to spend on your family, your friends, your business and yourself.
There has never been a more exciting time than the time we are living in right now.
We live in a Time of Choice.
We can choose how to spend our Valuable Time.
We get to choose how we fit people and events into our schedules.
…and believe it or not
We have the POWER to CHOOSE our total experience.

Elaine, I've been guilty of most of those things at one time or another. The phone and email are especially tricky, because I think if I don't deal with them now, I'll just have to deal with them later, but I'm working on it! Maybe thinking of those hours as dollars will help me to be stingier with my time!
Oh Janet…we have all been guilty. I have the problem with getting too engrossed into the web of the internet, spending hours and not finishing what I started. I am aware of that now and I am working diligently to battle this Time Hijacker!
Great post. There are so many things we can't control that hijack our time, but at least if we recognize those we can control and tell them adios – we will have a much happier life!
I have an old post on this topic if you would like to read it…http://www.afreshstartorganizing.net/2009/04/help-meive-been-robbed/
Thank you!
hello Gail, thanks for dropping by to read and comment.
You are right it is all about being aware of and sending those hijackers away.
Thanks for sharing your link to your article. I love the time buffers concept.
