Detox by DeCluttering

Do you ever wonder why you feel soooo welcomed and warm when you enter some spaces and others repel you like  smelly cheese?

I used to ponder this phenomenon until I started my life as a “Professional Organizer”.

After many years of clearing clutter it is now very clear to me.

Clutter = Stuck Energy QI - Energy

This is a concept that crosses many industries and philosophies. For the past 7 years as a Professional Organizer I have helped hundreds of people reclaim their homes, offices and their lives from the clutches of clutter. I have witnessed first hand how paralyzing clutter is for people. It distorts our ability to view our life…and to move forward to the life we desire.

I have also been blessed with the opportunity to see how making small incremental changes to remove clutter can suddenly open up the flow of energy or Qi as it is called in Feng Shui. It is like breathing energy into the space or situation.

Take a moment today to look at and really feel what is going on in your space and be honest about what kind of energy is present or not.

By removing things that you no longer need, use or want you will make space for things you do need, use and want to come to you!

The other day I started cleaning up, not my physical, but my virtual clutter! I read in your profile that you have the letters OCD and ADHD after your name… Well, apparently so do I, even though I wasn't fully aware of it.

I started with my bookmarks folder. There, I had bookmarks since the internet started for me, 1996! Took me many hours, but boy, did it feel good afterwards! My bookmarks are now synced with my Google account, accurate and up to date :)

Next in line is my Flickr photos. That's a whole different undertaking and I've started with baby steps. Don't want it to become too overwhelming. I have more than 8,000 images there — every photo I've shot and every web graphic I've ever created. I started with folder «Ducks». That alone contained 1,200 photos … I'm down to 700 now.

    I'm @rebjson on your Twitter list :)

The letters after our name make us amazing creative spontaneous people who are so fun to be around…and might I add you are an awesome photographer!
I love that you are really digging in and clearing out all that stuck energy…making way for news possibilities.
    Bravo, Elaine

Thank you :o ) [about the photo]

Yes, you're right … there's energy stuck in there, but I feel that it's also some kind of control issue. It's like a big blob that I've totally lost control over. Like if I were to gain weight, and instead of doing something about it, just let myself go… Terrible stuff.

  • And I thought QI was just a handy word to know when playing Scrabble! :)

I have seen what happens when I say ‘no’ to certain people or activities, freeing up time in my schedule for more valuable or interesting ones, but I haven’t applied it to my space. I have almost a whole drawer of my filing cabinet filled with various magazine clippings and other printed information which I rarely, if ever, look at. I wonder what will happen if I toss it all in the blue box?

Perhaps…you could let go of the cabinet as well…and have even more free space. I love it. Way to go Janet.
