WHY NB : The PEOPLE of Course!

On Friday night I had the opportunity to attend the 7th Annual Faces of Fusion Networking Dinner. If you know how much I love to network and connect with amazing people then you know why I was so excited to be at this annual event.

This SOLD out event was an amazing testament to the PEOPLE who are are the future of this province.

I was inspired by the eclectic nature of the attendees. All there to answer the same question WHY NB?

  • Big business was there and represented by Mike Ashar President of Irving Oil.  Mr Ashar introduced the Keynote Speaker our Premier David Alward. In the introduction Ashar noted that he has travelled the world and has had the honor of meeting many dignitaries from Senators to Premiers but has not met one like Premier Alward, the humble farmer from NB.
  • Small Business was represented with everything from Yoga to Social Media specialists.
  • The room was also buzzing with representatives from civic leaders to provincial representatives.
  • There were many young fresh faces who are the future of our province and I was encouraged by their enthusiasm…this will ensure that  my children will have an NB to be proud to live and raise a family in.

Premier David Alward Answers the question of the night…WHY NB

One of the highlights for me was my quick video interview with the Premier, I got to ask him WHY NB.  On the website www.whynb.ca you have 140 characters to give your answer to the question. For Premier Alward his short answer said it all ” The PEOPLE”. I heartily agree…the people make this province a gem of a place to live, work, raise a family…and PLAY!

My evening would not be complete without an interview with the incoming chair of the Fusion group. Kelly Lawson who by day is an Occupational Therapist (a talent in itself and one that is near and dear to my heart) and when she is not wearing her OT hat she is a talented photographer who in her words says… “You are beautiful, I can prove it!”

Here is our fun interview…with a blooper!

The night was one to remember from the “PEOPLE” to the menu that included beef tenderloin from Sussex and some other local goodies.

If you haven’t already please follow fusion on twitter @fusionsaintjohn and get involved in the future of our Province!

What I really appreciate about you, Elaine, is that you recognize that communication/networking and business development goes “beyond 140 characters”. You get out there to meet and connect with others face-to-face ….and you report back to us! Thanks for that. I believe, that today there is an over-focus on social media at times and your work serves as a reminder to maintain a balance in our lives. (Oh btw, I am grateful for Skype and video-calling, as it is the next best thing to face-to-face. LOL!)

Thanks @virtuewelle I love that we have connected on Skype and had some real connections. Balance…I work at it always…it can get out of whack at times but work/play/life are so important.
